 Msuao Tiago is the leader of a small artisan group in the village of Mtwara. Not only does he carve, but he helps his fellow artisans find sales opportunities for their goods. In a place with limited economic opportunity, Msuao uses carving as a way to provide for his wife, Hilda, and his four children, Marta, Happy, Ana, and Isaya. He carves beautiful Mahogany Salad Servers for Elevita, but is famed for saying, "I didn't know I could carve anything but ebony!" |
