Capiz Shell Artisans

In 2012 Elevita helped an ambitious school teacher in the Philippines start a capiz shell cooperative to help people in her community. Artisans gather and sort the shells, which are an abundant natural resource, then form them into shapes and bake them in a special oven to produce beautiful items. Since its inception, this cooperative has afforded work and school opportunities for about 40 artisans in need.
